The ladies club of Brandywine Living at Mountain Ridge’s, The Honey Bees, performed for Wilma Zielinski who turned 100 years old on March 6, 2018, in an outstanding birthday celebration.
“Wilma is known for her sharp wit and incredible sense of humor. We wanted her birthday celebration and the performance to be infused with those qualities,” said Kerri Havrilla, Escapades Producer, who directed the performance.
“I get up in the morning and thank God that I have two feet on the ground. I don’t take life too seriously unless it is absolutely necessary. I have learned to take life as it comes. I’ve also been told I have a great sense of humor and I use it,” commented Wilma about her 100th birthday.
The Honey Bees sang “A Bushel and a Peck” while throwing hearts and flowers into the audience from a real bushel basket. During the song “I’ve Got the World on a String,” WORLD balloons were passed around to the delight of the audience.
The best crowd reaction was to the performance by a Honey Bee dressed up as Betty Boop singing “I Want to be Loved by You.” Brandywine Living at Mount Ridge’s Escapades Producer, Dolores, did not disappoint either. Her performance as Cupid during the song “L-O-V-E” and as a pizza delivery girl for “That’s Amore” was received with applause. Additionally, one of the very talented Honey Bees wrote and recited a poem to Wilma during the performance.
“The turnout was immense, so much applause! I am truly grateful and humbled to have this much adoration,” said Wilma about the birthday celebration.
Brandywine Living asked Wilma to impart some of the wisdom she has gained over her 100 years of life with readers.
When asked what the secret to her longevity and good health is, she replied, “God! I am a devout Catholic. Staying very active, too. I didn’t stop driving until I was 98!”
Her best advice to young people today is to “treat everybody the way you would like to be treated.”
