For the fourth year in a row, Brandywine Living partnered with Caring Hearts Ministries to sponsor a local family for Christmas. Caring Hearts Ministries, located in Camden, NJ, works tirelessly year-round to help local underprivileged and under-housed families who are directly affected by HIV/AIDS.

“The holidays are a image1magical, happy time in a lot of ways, but for many people, the financial stresses and emotional struggles they deal with all year are only exacerbated. Working with Caring Hearts is so rewarding because at the end of the day we know we’ve brightened the holidays for a local family,” said Rebecca Lentine, Escapades Producer of Brandywine Living at Moorestown Estates. “There were a few children who woke up to find presents under the tree on Christmas morning who otherwise would not have. In return for all the hard work (fundraising, shopping, wrapping and delivering the gifts), the residents and staff involved in the project receive the satisfaction of knowing we made a difference in our own, small way. After all, spreading a little love and light at the holidays is what this season is really all about.”

This year two Brandywine communities, Voorhees and Moorestown Estates, teamed up for the annual project, magnifying the efforts

“The best part of the holidays is the spirit of giving, which is why, when Rebecca Lentine asked us to team up with Moorestown and work with Caring Hearts Ministries, saying “yes” was a no-brainer. Wrapping gifts for our adopted family brought the residents so much joy and fostered reminiscing about working with charities around the holidays before moving to Brandywine. I was thrilled and honored to take part in this project with the residents and offer them the opportunity to give back to the community. No matter what our age or background, giving makes us feel good! That’s something we all have in common,” commented Ashley Cruz, Invest Coordinator of Brandywine Living at Voorhees.

The communities “adopted” a family of four and did everything from shopping to gift-wrapping as a team. The sponsorship was completely funded by donations contributed by the residents, staff, and family members of both communities. Their combined efforts were able to surpass the family’s wish list. Wrapped gifts were delivered to Cooper Hospital before Christmas for the Caring Hearts Ministries.
