For some people, the daily grind of working can feel like survival, but for the men and women who wear “blue” to work the feeling of survival can be reality. Residents of Brandywine Living at Moorestown Estates assembled inspirational and humorous “Police Officer Survival Kits” in support of the local police officers who face dangerous challenges daily.
Each survival kit was filled with different types of “survival” candy complete with humorous and inspirational instructions. For instance, the peppermints were supplied to “…help you keep your cool.”
Brandywine Living at Moorestown Estates team members, who created the project, hoped it would not only make the police smile, but also the residents.
“I just had so much fun making up the gift bags for National Police Week. It was like a crazy assembly line and we laughed a lot! It was so funny because we all ended up wearing blue that day and we didn’t even plan it,” said Pauline, Brandywine Living resident. “I thought it was such a creative way to thank the police for all they do and it made me really happy to be a part of it. That’s really the secret of doing things for others, isn’t it—¬that the people giving, feel almost as good as the people receiving.”
The survival kits were delivered to local Moorestown police stations during National Police Week observed May 13-19, 2018.
