(MELVILLE, NY) Art showcase.  There was artistry abound at Brandywine Living at Huntington Terrace, thanks to Vincent Martucci, a retired NYPD detective and full time artist, who played a key role in orchestrating a community art showcase on October 7, 2017.

Vincent has been a resident at Brandywine Living at Huntington Terrace since 2016 and during his time at the senior living community, he has continued his passion for the arts.  His works span many mediums including pencil, acrylic paint and graphic design.

Art has always been an inspirational outlet for Martucci and he decided to share his love for the arts by inviting the other residents at the community to join him in an art showcase.  Leading up to the event, he collected and organized the masterpieces submitted by fellow residents and their family members.

When asked what his inspiration was in orchestrating such an event, Vincent replied:

“I’m an artist and I thought it would be nice to have an art show.”

Submissions to the art showcase included Judith Dalton, Al Mazur, Phil Levine, Nancy Hipper, Vincent Martucci, Sally Shurz, Carol Haberman, and a 3 generational exhibit of Domenica Spellman with her daughter, Rosanne, and granddaughter, Danielle.  Additionally, artwork in memoriam of Robert Carbee and Crysanthe La Rosa was on display.

Art judges were Brandywine Living’s own Patricia Finkelberg; Executive Director, Natalie Cravin; Butler and Kristen Connelly; Director of Community Relations.  Ribbons were awarded to the following artists:  first place, Dotty Spellman, second place, Vincent Martucci and third place, Sally Shurz.

“The gallery brought enjoyment and delight throughout the weekend, our residents and guests were able to revel over the accomplishments and beauty at the hands of our talented residents,” said Kristen Connelly, Director of Community Relations at Brandywine Living at Huntington Terrace.
