(HADDONFIELD, NJ) Local community yoga event. The scenery outside of Brandywine Living at Haddonfield looked a little different on a recent Monday night. The historic Victorian porch and landscaped lawn was crowded with over 30 yoga enthusiasts, experts and novices, with yoga mats in tow. Community passersby and resident spectators gave cheers of support to those participating in Yoga Under the Stars, a collaborative event with Brandywine Living and Virtua.
Yoga Under the Stars featured an evening of relaxing meditation, yoga, and wellness education to the local community. Attendees enjoyed healthy appetizers prepared by Brandywine Living chefs, beverages from the local Animo Juice Bar, and networking while waiting for the yoga course to begin.
David R. Erdelyi BS, RYT-500 from the Virtua William G Rohrer Fitness Center led the yoga course with support from Barbara Meyers, who provided a Nadi Shodhana demonstration, and Teresa D’Aprile. The course started with an inspiring message on staying healthy and the importance of stress reduction in our daily lives, with humor intertwined. Traditional positions, balancing positions, and breathing techniques to combat allergy symptoms introduced attendees to the world of yoga. The goal was to provide a fun, judgment-free experience to encourage individual lifestyle wellness.
“Yoga Under the Stars was a magical event and the residents of the Brandywine facility were so welcoming. It was such a gift to share my passion for yoga with the incredible group of community members,” said David R. Erdelyi BS, RYT-500, Group Exercise Coordinator for the William G. Rohrer Center for HealthFitness.
“I am truly honored to represent Virtua and promote our mission to help people Be Well, Get Well, and Stay Well with such an amazing evening for the Mind, Body, and Soul…Namaste.”
In addition to the free yoga class that evening, one lucky participant won a $100 gift card to the Virtua HealthFitness center in Moorestown and the first 25 to RSVP received a free Virtua yoga mat. Yoga Under the Stars was well received with positive feedback from attendees and may become an annual event at Brandywine Living at Haddonfield.
“Yoga Under the Stars was such a successful event! Connecting with the community and local businesses was very special. Our residents loved seeing so many guests having such a wonderful time practicing and learning about yoga right on their front lawn!” said Kim Fasolo, Director of Community Relations at Brandywine Living at Haddonfield. “We plan to continue to offer wellness programs and exciting events for both our residents and the community through our collaborative partnership with Virtua.”
