Pennsylvania Residents Compete in 55+ Senior Games Event

Brandywine residents and their sister communities competed against one another in a friendly 55+ Senior Games and BBQ event. What originally began at Brandywine’s Longwood community 8 years ago has now expanded to all 5 of Brandywine’s Pennsylvania locations.senior games award

The 55+ Senior Games and Barbecue is an annual event that Brandywine hosts for the community and their residents. Participation has grown over the years as word has spread of how enjoyable this day has become for all who attend.

“The Senior Games is an event our residents and community look forward to every year. We are extremely excited that our sister communities are now joining in on the fun, said Longwood’s Director of Community Relations, Kelly Shoemaker.  “It is a wonderful opportunity to promote activity and healthy lifestyles for the growing senior population!”

senior games corn hole The day was filled with 3 hours of games and friendly competition that included Washers, Bocce Ball, Bowling, BINGO, and Ladder Golf, just to name a few. Medals were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each game. And that’s not all. Participants also received a certificate of participation to take home with them!


Local Mayors from each participating town recognized all the winners and participants at the award ceremony following lunch.

Residents, families and friends were all raving about how much fun the day was and are already looking forward to keeping the tradition going next year!
