Graduation Ceremony Held for Ramapo College of New Jersey’s Lifelong Learning Participants

Older Female Holding Graduation Certificate

Forty-two residents of Brandywine Living at Mahwah were proud to attend a private graduation ceremony for completing the Lifelong Learning program with Ramapo College of New Jersey. The 2nd annual ceremony was held at Brandywine Living at Mahwah on June 14, 2018.

The educational program features a monthly lecture from accredited Ramapo College professors and hosted at Brandywine Living at Mahwah. Course topics range from Astronomy, Political Science, International Studies, Environmental Science, History, Art and Humanities. The lectures started in July, 2017 and ended with a total of 9 lectures in April, 2018.

Highlighted lectures at the community included learning about forensic psychology and being a part of a “line up, witnessing the fine art of 3-d printing technology, a meet and greet with Ramapo College President, Dr. Peter Mercer, and the history of military veterans in politics by “Why Veterans Run” author, Professor Jeremy Teigen.

“The Ramapo lectures have been interesting and helpful. One in particular I had an interest in was a lecture on Japan, it was so informative. The professor introduced us to a website on Japanese customs and traditions we could follow for further information, which were updated monthly. I followed this for over a year until the series ended,” said resident Jim Minihan, on the courses offered.

The Lifelong Learning program with Ramapo College of New Jersey is a result of the collaborative partnership shared between the college and Brandywine Living. The program is designed to promote overall well-being, social engagement, and education to residents through the satisfaction of higher learning.

Laura Weber, resident of Brandwine Living at Mahwah, who attended the lectures and graduation ceremoney said, “I think the Ramapo lectures are excellent and stimulating for the mind, there are always new things to think about that are very worthwhile.”

Brandywine Living is dedicated to providing an active lifestyle to older Americans and will continue to offer educational programs with their partner, Ramapo College of New Jersey, for residents and the local community.
