Rehoboth Beach, DE / May 24, 2019 / WRDE Coast TV — Some of Sussex County’s oldest veterans were honored in a very special ceremony on Friday.

Three airmen from Dover Air Force Base visited Brandywine Living at Seaside Pointe. Each of the senior home’s veterans were given a pin, certificate, and salute from the airmen.

“They are good men,” veteran Ron Johnson told WRDE through tears. “Just keep them going.”

Many photographs of the men during their years of service were hung at Brandywine Living. In addition to the airmen tributes, each branch of the military’s song was sung out loud, and a Memorial Day poem was read.

“All these people deserve it,” Johnson says. “I cry every time I think of it because I’ve lost so many friends.”
