Seniors Help Feed the Local Community During National Assisted Living Week

Group of Seniors with PBJ Sandwiches

Dresher, PA — Brandywine Living at Dresher Estates is no stranger to cooking for the local community. They are well known for their “Soup Squad” activities where residents create large quantities of soup for the KleinLife’s Cook for A Friend program.

For National Assisted Living Week 2021, they put the soup ladles aside to participate in Project Bread Drop created by the Jarrettown Church to help support those struggling with hunger.

A total of 93 peanuts butter and jelly sandwiches and 40 snack bags were made by the resident seniors. The items were dropped off to the church to be distributed to those in need.

“Residents enjoyed helping the community while discussing happy memories around making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with their own families. We will be adding this project to our ongoing programming” commented Rachel Kaufman, Brandywine Escapades Producer.

National Assisted Living Week was established in 1995 by NCAL to provide a unique opportunity for residents, their loved ones, team members, and the community to recognize the important role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors.
